I cannot even describe the torrential downpour Monika and I drove through on the way to Krystal and Cal’s wedding. Highway 98 was flooded in some areas and cars were stalled out in the roadway and the sky looked even more menacing ahead of us. I was looking to make sure an ark didn’t float past us! It did not look like it was going to be such a good day for a beach wedding!

I wasn’t really sure how Krystal would take this climatic event and in truth was a bit worried for her as I looked at the radar and saw even more rain headed our way. We met her in the driveway of the house, she was looking excited about her big day and didn’t seem to mind the rain at all. She did ask me what the radar looked like and as any good wedding photographer should do…I lied. I told her it looked great and with any luck we would even have a rainbow. And then I prayed that I was right.  I’ll let you know more about the weather situation later, but first let’s meet our couple for the wedding.

Krystal and Cal. Two very spunky and adorable do it yourselfers who worked together to find just the right pieces of driftwood to create their own wedding arch that they brought with them to Florida. Krystal had decorated every inch of the beach house with festive signs, fun wedding balloons, custom crafted candle holders and much more. It was really awesome! Cal made sure the guys were in the right place at the right time and even had a fun arm wrestling match before the wedding. Monika shot a great image of that!

After the girls toasting and an uncle cooking and lots of hustle and bustle, it was time for the wedding. Although it was still gray and not so pretty inland a few blocks, we came up to the beach to find the water the most wonderful emerald green color and no rain over the area!! As you can probably imagine, the wedding went off without a hitch. The beautiful bride and her handsome groom looked at each other with adoration and the nuptials were sealed with a passionate kiss.

Back at the beach house, the food was being cooked for the reception. A country low boil and northern real Italian sausage completed with home made cheesecake…yah..it was a great wedding! Enjoy their images!

The ice cream man was a little added treat for pictures!

I loved the sky with Krystal's lights...beautiful!

Keith and Katie’s decision to have a morning wedding at the Sandestin Hilton was a wise one. The sky was a brilliant cobalt blue and the clouds were the kind you could pick out of the sky like cotton candy. They chose to become husband and wife on the outside deck of the Hilton and then have a nice brunch reception. Under the tall palms they said their vows in front of friends and family who had traveled from all over the United States to come to the wedding. Mark and I shot the wedding and reception, while Monika worked magic with the very popular photo booth! Nouveau Flowers created a total fairy tale effect for both the wedding and reception and made a wonderful setting for a very attractive couple. I think their arch was one of most exquisite I have seen. Blair and the staff of the Hilton worked in the temperatures soaring in the 90′s to make sure everyone had what they needed and the wedding would be perfect. Jordan from Savior Faire Weddings rocked the coordination as she checked time schedules and made sure everything was just perfect!

As the sun was rising over the beautiful Gulf of Mexico, Kelly didn’t have to worry about getting any oil at all on her wedding dress. She was ready to trash her dress, but more along the lines of frolicking in the water with her sweet loving husband Brian. We started out utilizing the beautiful sunrise on the jetties. The water was calm and a gentle sea breeze allowed her dress to flow adding drama to her images. Soon the anticipation got to all of us, it was getting warm and it was time to create some wet wedding attire art! I have always seen folks shooting their trash the dress sessions either above or under the water. I wanted to be the first to shoot both views at the same time. And you know…I loved it! I hope you do as well! Enjoy!

The light breeze was wonderful!

I was really looking forward to this beach portrait session. The M. Family, what more can you ask for? They are great looking people who are really fun! Now that’s my type of family session for sure! I met them when I shot their daughter’s wedding. Wow, talk about fun as well!! And now the whole family was together again this summer and we got to have fun on the beach. We didn’t have to worry about any tar balls or odor either, it was simply perfect! Please take a moment to enjoy their images!

You know with three daughters all so beautiful, they have to be a great looking couple!

And handsome couple they are indeed!! I think Mom looks like Sandra Bullock!

Big waves and beautiful skies was the backdrop for the “W” family beach portrait in Destin recently. Little “W” had a blast exploring the beach and of course….running! Well, at that age, it’s what they do!! But they look so cute when they run off into the sunset! Anyway, they were a beautiful family and we had a blast photographing them. Now you can enjoy their images.

The J. Family was a hoot! I imagine that when they get together there is plenty of antics and fun! They came down last week to Destin for their beach portrait. It was not one of the better days for the poor beach. Itty bitty tar balls crowded where the tideline had hit the sand. Thankfully there was no smell and plenty of clean sand near the water where we could do sitting groups. Another big thing to be thankful for was the fact that the balls were so small they did not show up in any images from the shoot!! YAY!  All in all we had tons of fun and the weather was perfect. Please enjoy their images!

What a sweet moment!

I love our untouched beaches!

I love the beaches along 30A in Walton County. They are in tune with high society, yet so old Florida. It’s really beautiful to go out and enjoy them. I had a wonderful chance to do just that last week with the R. Family! The sea oats (please don’t touch them or step on them) are beginning to bloom and so pretty as a backdrop for an image and the sand and water are the most beautiful I have seen them in years! We had a wonderful time so enjoy their little family moments caught on film.

If sunrise didn’t come so stinkin early, I’m pretty sure I would be up to enjoy one every day. However, since I am a night owl and actually come from a long line of night owls, the beautiful soft breezes, pink light and gentle glow of the dawn usually elude me. So, when Trisha needed a portrait last week and the only time I had available was sunrise. I found myself looking forward to the fresh smooth water of morning with schools of fish jumping and the light timid and shy until the sun pushed over the horizon. And I was not disappointed, the water was crystal clear with no sign of those evil tar balls, the fish were swimming and Trisha and her son were so much fun!! ……But the dog stole the show.  Enjoy!

WHO DAT! Belly bump!

I love the fun attitude!

The dog's crowning moment!! I love it!

Havin' fun and OIL FREE!

Wooo Hooo! I am now two for two in the last week of newborns smiling for me! I am doing the I feels so special dance right now as I blog! Okay, so perhaps the reasoning is that they are just really special babies with such loving personalities that they are advanced for their ages in the smiling department. But I still say it’s the magic of the Red Dog Studio! LOL Little Baby Alya had some amazing eyes and just was checking out all of her surroundings. She was wonderfully behaved and her parents were so adorable. They took turns with her and in a family shot as mom was kissing little Alya’s toes, dad just simply turned and kissed mom on the cheek so gentle and lovingly it was awesome! Now that’s what love is about. I hope you enjoy looking at Alya’s images as much as I enjoyed photographing them!

Baby smiles rock!

Love this!

I just adore the cute little expressions of babies!

It was great to see the F. family again. I love seeing how big the children have grown and how much they have changed, whether it’s a year or three years! Needless to say, the kids grew and are becoming super big kids instead of great little ones! It was fun to see the changes. And with photographs the changes are like slicing a piece of that history and keeping as an heirloom forever. Yah, that’s pretty much why I love my job! And I promised dad that I would not blog their whole family doing the Wizard of Oz walk and I didn’t. But there’s always the year in review blog!! LOL Well, let’s not ramble on forever, it’s time to enjoy their images!

This is just random and impromptu, but I LOVE this shot!

Even the grandmas got to enjoy the beach!

Still so cute together!!
