Marie’s mom called me from Ohio because her daughter wanted to have her senior pictures done at their second home in Carillon Beach. She said her daughter was beautiful, fun, had a great personality and wanted some Florida style out of the ordinary images for her senior portraits. Well, she was right!! Marie is funny, beautiful and intelligent! We had a blast! I hope you enjoy her images as much as I enjoyed photographing them!

Marie Class of 2011 ~ Carillon Beach, Fl ~
August 24, 2010The H. Family was a ton of fun! They came to me in Grayton Beach on Scenic Hwy. 30A to do their family beach portraits. All of the kids were so well behaved and although it looked as though the sky could open up and storm at any minute, we didn’t experience a drop of rain to temper our beach fun! With the scare of oil and start of school, the beaches were deserted. It looked more vacant than the dead of winter, but it was fine for us. We used all of the beach as a canvas for their beach portraits! I hope you enjoy them!
Class of 2011 Senior Portraits ~~ Heather~~
August 3, 2010Heather came down to Destin from Georga with her family this summer and wanted her senior portraits done in a very artistic and unique way. So they came to me to give her some high fashion based fun and unique images. We began at one of my favorite places, Eden State Gardens and then went to the Sandestin Property. Wow, you could shoot there for days and not use the same place twice! It was simply wonderful. Heather also plays tennis, but didn’t want the typical in a tennis uniform shot. She wanted one in a classy dress and heels showing that she was fierce and owned the court, but in a very feminine manner. I think we hit that nail right on the head and ended up with a shot that could have come out of Cosmo or Vogue. Okay at least Vanity Fare. Take a look for yourself! Enjoy and leave a comment if you would like. We love feedback!

Oh my gosh, when New Orleans Times-Picayune photographer Scott Threlkeld called me to ask if I would be a subject for a story on businesses along the Gulf Coast adversely affected by the oil spill I was so nervous! I am always the person BEHIND the camera, not in front. He drove over from New Orleans last week to video and photograph me as I did a beach session. I was excited in the fact that folks indeed could see in person that there really is no reason for them not to come down and enjoy our beaches. Our sand is as white as ever and the water oh so inviting! I toyed for a moment on wearing my F BP shirt (that would be Florida against BP, don’t get any ideas), but then thought maybe not! My clients for the evening, the A. Family have come to me for several years and they were excited to be profiled in the story. It was also fun to see in a video how I shot the images and then the images themselves. Thankfully the majority of video is of their family and NOT me!! LOL Thank you Scott!!! We had a great time and made some fun images. I hope folks will see that we are still open for business and will come down for a great fall vacation! Please check out all of the folks interviewed for the story and enjoy the images from the A. Family!
Catching up on Beach portrait blogs ~No more oil in Destin~
August 2, 2010
As I write this I am a little bit optimistic! I have seen no sign of oil (tar balls or otherwise) along our beaches for about two weeks. You don’t know how happy this makes me! YAY! But now it’s time to get up off of the beach and begin blogging. I just can’t say enough about these families, they were all so wonderful and awesome! And a few of them are celebrating over five years in a row coming to me for their family pictures! I am so honored to be able to say that. Anyway, enough of the chit chat, let’s take a look at some great families on our oil free beaches!!

Devon ~ Divalicious Senior Portrait ~
July 19, 2010I met Devon this summer through mutual friends. She is from the Atlanta area and came down to spend the summer with her grandmother in Florida. She had seen some work I had done for our friends and wanted me to do her senior portraits. Now Devon is full of spunk, a fashionista and on top of that does poetry slams! Her poems are actually very, very good! We got together and talked about some things we wanted to accomplish and then we went and had a great time!! She even introduced me to the rapper Waka Flocka Flame’s music. Well, so maybe I’m not ready to be a huge fan of his, but it wasn’t bad. It was a pleasure getting to know her and I hope you enjoy her images.
I was really looking forward to this beach portrait session. The M. Family, what more can you ask for? They are great looking people who are really fun! Now that’s my type of family session for sure! I met them when I shot their daughter’s wedding. Wow, talk about fun as well!! And now the whole family was together again this summer and we got to have fun on the beach. We didn’t have to worry about any tar balls or odor either, it was simply perfect! Please take a moment to enjoy their images!
Choctaw Senior Portraits ~~ Ashley ~~
July 13, 2010Ashley is so cute and bubbly! She was able to rock each and every outfit and scene change of her senior portrait session. Okay well sessions, Mother Nature didn’t allow us to finish up her session the first day as a huge pop up thunderstorm came along and ruined our outdoor plans. But we came back and got them done with gusto! Enjoy a sample of her images!

Jessica’s mom called me to see if she could be a Senior Model for Mari’s Paradise Images. It only took a little while to get the impression that her daughter not only had spunk, but the right stuff to be a model for the class of 2011! Hey class of 2012, let me give you a hint just in case you want to sign up now to be a senior model for next year….brains+fun!!! Yup, that’s the key! So the day we had scheduled for Jessica’s session it rained cats and dogs. Instead of canceling the shoot, we did the studio portion. I’m not saying how long we took, but we for sure got carried away just having fun and shooting images. LOL Then on a beautiful morning we finished with the outside portion of the shoot. We crammed quite a bit of stuff into our time outside. Now you get to see everything from Jessica’s photography hobby to bike riding as you get a little peek of her senior portraits! And keep in mind, as a senior model she can give you an awesome rate if you are wanting to get away from that school photogapher look!

The J. Family ~Loving a Destin Beach Portrait~
July 5, 2010The J. Family was a hoot! I imagine that when they get together there is plenty of antics and fun! They came down last week to Destin for their beach portrait. It was not one of the better days for the poor beach. Itty bitty tar balls crowded where the tideline had hit the sand. Thankfully there was no smell and plenty of clean sand near the water where we could do sitting groups. Another big thing to be thankful for was the fact that the balls were so small they did not show up in any images from the shoot!! YAY! All in all we had tons of fun and the weather was perfect. Please enjoy their images!
