I first saw Lorelei when she was a sassy but shy two-year-old with a thick head of curly red hair peeking over the top of her family’s perfect white picket fence as I was driving by one day. She was a bundle of energy and always perfectly dressed. I found out later her grandmother is quite the seamstress and sews her outfits for her. They are quite amazing! Later that year I photographed Lorelei and her older brother Keegan and we had a ball! Imagine Michael J. Fox’s roll as Alex Keeton on Growing Pains in a much younger person and you have Keegan! They are both really neat kids!

Later on in the year that I photographed Lorelei, her parents upon checking if she may have growth issues found out the news that no parents would ever want to hear. She has a rare disease where her white blood cells are attacking her body. It is kind of like cancer, but without the tumor. She has been undergoing chemotherapy and other treatments, but the disease is so rare that not much research has been devoted to it’s cause or cure. So for now, her parents hope and pray and try to give her the moments in life every 5-year-old experiences. Keegan is still very much a character and a sweet and loveable kid.

The portraits were my gift to Lorelei for her 5th birthday. Enjoy.

You may remember Baby Pierce from our blog about a week ago. Oh, okay you really didn’t meet him. He was this really big hump in his mother’s belly! His mother was the very beautiful maternity portrait client Lexi who gave birth the very next day! Wow, I wish I had looked that good on my due date!! But really….I so didn’t and that’s a whole ‘nother story all together..LOL

Anyway Lexi came back to the Red Dog Studio and brought her whole cute little family. All I have to say is little girls watch out!! With two simply gorgeous parents, in about 14 years Pierce is going to be piercing some little girl hearts! So enjoy the love, wonderment and joy of Lexi, Ryan and their wonderful new baby Pierce.

Don't you just want to scoop him up and give him kisses!!

Katheryn and her mom wanted some really cool shots done with a beautiful dress Katie wore for her 16th birthday party last year. Since the foliage was so beautiful we went to her house to photograph with some great scenery!!

This was an image she wanted. Her mom put up the swing just so they could get this photo.

Miss Alexis rocks!! I love my baby girl :)

Wow, the girls and guys from US Gold Gymnastics and Cheer rocked out the 2010 Allstar Gulf Coast Championship cheerleading competition in Panama City Beach this weekend! The weather was beautiful for the event held on the beach and US Gold hit their routine Sunday and earned the second place trophy in their level! Way to go guys!!!

Poking fun at myself

April 15, 2010

I love to have fun!! Whether it’s hanging out with an old college gymnastics teammate or shooting a wedding, high energy and laughter are a part of my life. Usually it’s because I’m able to laugh at myself. Recently two of these occasions have been captured on film. I thought I would share them so you can laugh too!

A couple of weeks ago, KK, a teammate of mine from Kent State University came to Destin with her family. We had a blast and made some great images of her family. But in the process we had to stop and have a good old fashioned handstand contest on the beach!! Oh….I think the winner held it for all of like 10 seconds….LOL That darned gravity! It probably would have been easier if we had not been laughing our heads off while doing it! I think her husband had 911 on speed dial just in case we decided to try any more risky tumbling!

Okay...so maybe not a 10 for form!!! LOL

Then there are those fun wedding moments. Michelle’s way (see below post for her awesome wedding) of calming her pre-wedding nerves was to chew gum. Now I let my brides do whatever they need to calm down, but there comes a time when it’s time to do some formal images and gum…it just doesn’t look so good. I thought her mother was going to laugh herself half to death when I told Michelle  to give me her gum so I could throw it away. I guess the mom in me just comes out sometimes!!! LOL Thanks to Michelle’s mom by the way for sending me this photo. It is pretty funny!

Chewing gum patrol strikes!!

Lexi’s friend wanted to get her a very special baby shower gift, one that she would appreciate and love long after baby Pierce had made his way into the world and even after he grew up. So, she called me. Since this was Lexi’s first baby she wanted her to have some gorgeous maternity photos. There was only one problem. Lexi was at full term and being induced in less than 48 hours. We had to work fast!

Lexi loves the glamorous look. She wanted to do strings of pearls for her maternity session. Thanks to Maggie at Barefoot Weddings I had a ton of them on hand in no time! Enjoy the images and look for little Pierce in a future blog. He was born about 24 hours after the shoot!!

Lexi has the most awesome eyes!!

Michelle and Matt are quite a match. Michelle has been a client of mine for a couple of years and has always been as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. So when she asked me to be her wedding photographer I was thrilled!

She and her equally wonderful fiance’ now husband Matt are so compatible together. She watches him with bright and happy eyes and gushes with glee as she talks about him, and he would walk barefoot across hot lava for her I am pretty sure. The both love and respect one another and it shows.

Michelle chose the beach behind the Inn at Crystal Beach as her wedding location. 790 on the Gulf inside the inn was the reception site. The weather was perfect and the sunset amazing for the wedding. You could have not asked for a more beautiful setting or day. Enjoy their images, they are a cute couple!! Monika and I had a blast capturing their awesome wedding moments!

Aren't they just precious together!!

Michelle loved Matt's wedding note to her!

The dolphins were "surfing" prior to the ceremony

Since her father had passed, Michelle had her parent's wedding rings on her bouquet.

I love this!! What a gentleman!

Now that's a dip!
